Upcoming Horror Movies
Title Note:(1/12/02) During its production, this project was also known as American Psycho II: The Girl Who Wouldn't Die, but the final release subtitle will be All American Girl.
MPAA Rating: R (for violence and language)
Cast: Mila Kunis (Rachael), William Shatner (Professor Robert Strickland), Geraint Wyn-Davies; other cast not announced yet. Set in the modern day, no cast, including Christian Bale (whose character of Patrick Bateman is dead), will return from the first film.
Screenwriters: Karen Craig, Alex Sanger (debuts; Craig has another script, Into the Abyss, in development at Lions Gate, also about a college student and serial murders; Sanger is also Director of Production for LGF)
Premise: Set nearly 15 years after the events of American Psycho, this is the story of a college freshman and Patrick Bateman survivor (Kunis) who becomes a teaching assistant (as a freshman!!??) to a professor even as she develops her own murderous obsessions, destroying anyone in her way... Here's the official premise from Lions Gate:
"Patrick Bateman is dead. However, his evil continues on in the body of a college student (Kunis) who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Rachael Newman, the only victim to ever escape Patrick Bateman alive, has inherited his thirst to "fit in." But the rigors of surviving your college life can be challenging to a young beautiful co-ed like Rachael. In a world where might does not always make right, and sex can kill, you will find the new American Psycho."
Filming: Production started in mid-May, 2001 in Toronto on a budget of $10 million, and wrapped later that summer.
